Introduction
What CUR enrichment is and how it works.
What is CUR enrichment?
CUR enrichment is Greenpixie's core service: you share your cloud provider's billing export, such as the AWS Cost and Usage Report (CUR), Azure usage detail, or GCP billing export, and we return it with sustainability metrics added to every line item. All of your original billing data is retained; enrichment only adds columns.
Each billing line item gains:
- Total electricity usage in kWh, covering both IT equipment and facility overhead
- Usage emissions in tonnes CO₂e
- Embodied emissions in tonnes CO₂e
- Water consumption from cooling in litres
- Water consumption from electricity generation in litres
The calculations run at the individual SKU / rate code level using the documented Greenpixie methodology, with no spend-based proxies.
How it works
Enrichment runs entirely against storage in your own environment. You create input and output buckets/containers, grant Greenpixie access, and place billing data in the input directory. We read it, enrich it, and write the results back to your output directory.
Enrichments run daily between 01:00 and 04:00 UTC, processing the month-to-date. Partners enriching data for multiple customers can instead trigger enrichments on demand.
We support Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage and Google Cloud Storage, in CSV and Parquet formats; data from any cloud platform can live in any of them.
Prefer to keep your billing data in-house entirely? The Greenpixie API provides ratecards built on the same underlying numbers, so you can join the sustainability factors onto your billing data yourself.
