8. Monitoring, Updates, and Review Timing
How the methodology is kept current.
Greenpixie maintains the methodology on a rolling basis rather than on a fixed release cycle. When cloud providers introduce new services or SKUs, or publish documentation indicating a change to the hardware or architecture behind a service, the methodology team researches the relevant sources and updates the affected hardware mappings. Power consumption constants and embodied emissions data are revised as new hardware generations, lifecycle assessment research, or manufacturer specifications become available, and PUE and WUE values are updated as cloud providers publish new data. Changes to the GHG Protocol, ISO standards, and relevant regulatory frameworks are incorporated as they affect the calculation or reporting approach.
Grid carbon intensity data is refreshed through GPX Grid, which processes the latest available source data and produces hourly factors where that resolution is supported. Coverage and granularity vary by region, and where hourly data is not available the methodology applies the fallback described in Section 6.4. In some regions the carbon intensity data for a given month is published one to two months in arrears, and where this occurs the methodology uses the most recent available data as a proxy until the actual figures are released.
